The Sr. Accountant plays a key role within the organization coordinating all major accounting functions including payables receivables payroll general ledger fixed assets and banking. Works closely with Controller Sales Supply Chain Human Resources Engineering and Operations to ensure all financial transactions are booked timely according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies. Provides accounting support and guidance to the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate the Accounts Receivable function including posting of customer payments processing of nonroutine debit and credit memos and recommending accounts for collection and/or writeoff.
Coordinate the Accounts Payable function including invoice review coding posting matching with purchase orders applying credit memos and preparing weekly payment proposals. Handle calls from outside suppliers regarding invoices and payments.
Prepare and facilitate bank deposits. Maintain daily bank reconciliations. Support the cash forecast process. Reconcile petty cash and company credit cards.
Manage Assets under Construction and ensure proper asset capitalization and depreciation.
Maintain the Cost Accounting System according to company schedule. Ensure correct inventory valuation including accruals for excess and obsolete material.
Coordinate the Payroll function including validation of hours worked overtime bonuses among others. Ensure proper payroll .
Prepare and book standard and ad hoc journal entries with emphasis in supporting documentation.
Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ensure all relevant accruals are booked and updated every month.
Support the timely month end close and accurate preparation of financial statements.
Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
Generate nonstandard queries and reports as requested.
Complete periodic regulatory filings including quarterly filing workers compensation data with the State of Ohio. Ohio CAT Ohio Use Tax and other required reporting and filing as necessary.
Support in the development of companywide budget forecast reporting and analysis processes as requested by the Controller or the President.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
4year degree in Accounting Finance or Business (required)
5 years experience in Accounting in an industrial manufacturing environment (required)
13 years experience in Cost Accounting (preferred)
