HWDMC is a 94bed medical facility that provides acute medical diagnosis skilled intermediate and long term care to individuals receiving services in facilities operated by the Commonwealth of Virginias Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services as well as individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities within the community. We have been awarded the Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 5Star Rating. Hiram W. Davis Medical Center is currently recruiting for an Ultrasound Technician to perform highquality Ultrasound images for interpretation by our Radiologists. To use appropriate training and skills to deliver quality services. Responsible for maintaining current quality assurance and agency standards in the provision of services. To back up the EKG technologist when necessary. The Ultrasound Technologist will provide timely and accurate imaging to patients on the DBHDS Southside Campus utilizing the Mindray Ultrasound Machine on site. The position of Ultrasound Technologist will increase patient care due to being able to send images directly from the facility to the radiology group which would make for a more efficient and faster read time.
Job Duties:
Utilizes safe and correct positioning of patients when performing ultrasound exams.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills while explaining the exam to patients.
Thoroughly communicates with the patients by explaining what they are doing through the whole exam.
Always send the highest quality images available to the radiologist
Maintains patients record in EHR and PACS
Schedules patients in EHR.
Provides highquality images to Radiologists for interpretation.
Calls STAT or positive finding to ordering physician.
Emails Ordering physician when results are available in EHR.
Demonstrates an awareness of and response for coworker and individuals cultural background.
Incorporates the individuals cultural background and values in methods of communication and services provided.
Incorporates the individuals cultural background and values to involve family members as needed.
Examines equipment in Radiology Dept to determine if repairs are needed.
Minimum Qualifications
ARRT or RDMS registered or registry eligible. If eligible the employee must pass the registry within 1 year of service to the facility.
Valid Virginia Drivers License
KSAs required to perform the job successfully:
Knowledge of PACS.
Knowledge of Microsoft office
Additional Considerations
Familiar with Mindray equipment is a plus.
Knowledge of Cerner EHR is a plus.
