The Tools Development Specialist is a multidisciplinary role. The responsibilities include developing tool software to be used by R&D teams advocating tools adoption by the teams administering and maintaining existing tools as well as software development to support test automation. You will not only react to issues as they arise but will also anticipate problems and proactively provide solutions. Under the guidance of the Manager of R&D Tools and Test Automation Development you will work closely with product developers verification specialists R&D managers and IT specialists. You will have the opportunity to work with people on different Ross Video product lines and be exposed to a variety of new technologies.

What the job is all about

• In collaboration with the R&D teams identify the tools and development environment needs
• Evaluate & make recommendations for the tools and development environments
• Develop and / or deploy tools to be used by R&D teams
• Maintain and support these tools
• Advocate and promote the common tools and practices among teams
• Develop and maintain clear documentation for team processes procedures and working norms
• Provide training to the teams on how to use these tools
• Develop software as required to make tools administration more efficient
• Manage and maintain software development build servers
• Manage and maintain development tools such as bug tracking tools code inspection and analysis tools test management tools and team collaboration tools and internal wiki platforms
• Evaluate 3^rd party tools
• Develop and maintain test automation framework software
• Perform other related duties as required

Who you are

• Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
• A fast learner. Be able to learn a new development environment or technology quickly
• Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
• Strong communication skills and persuasion skills
• Proactively anticipate problems and propose solutions
• At least five years of software development experience with different platforms and languages such as Python Java JavaScript Golang
• Proficient in Linux/Unix administration including software installation maintenance and troubleshooting
• Proficient in software installation maintenance and troubleshooting on Windows platforms
• Working knowledge of configuration management tools
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and experience with Jenkins Docker GitLab GitHub
• Experience with Cloud Based Development environments
• Understanding of test automation frameworks is an asset
• Degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or related field
