Summary Statement
This position reports to the Psychologist Unit Manager and supervises a team of masters level licensed clinicians dedicated to providing care coordination and higher level of care services to children and families . Key activities include providing supervision and consultation to staff collaborating with communitybased providers and community organizations to foster holistic and informal supports for children and families; providing guidance and supporting team approaches to service planning service delivery and service monitoring that help integrate family and community members in these processes; responds to emergencies and conflicts in a timely manner and assists in the resolution of challenging cases and/or personal circumstances. This position sits on Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services divisional Departmental and external committees.
Essential Functions
- Selects administers scores and interprets a wide variety of psychological tests to measure and evaluate intelligence achievement personality interests and other mental characteristics.
- Interviews and observes individuals at play in group interactions or other situations to detect indications of mental deficiency abnormal behavior or maladjustment.
- Communicates with public private and state agencies community service organizations courts schools police and families in order to develop effective treatment strategies.
- Analyzes information to assess individual problems.
- Evaluates the relevance and importance of psychological theories concepts and principles.
- Identifies symptoms makes diagnoses and develops approach to treatment.
- Develops and implements treatment plans evaluates effectiveness and adapts plans.
- Engages individuals in assisting in the identification of their emotional problems and in the identification of a variety of interventions to assist in addressing these issues.
- Provides psychotherapy and other various treatments to individuals groups and/or families.
- Conducts psychological practice according to the ethical standards of psychology.
- Writes progress notes and reports regarding test interpretation evaluation and individual progress.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Psychologist Supervisor
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Possession of a Delaware Psychologist license or eligibility for a Delaware license.
- Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work academic training training provided through an employer or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning assigning reviewing and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional technical and clerical employees.
Additional Job Requirements for Department of Services for Children Youth and their Families
- At least two years post licensure experience working with children or adolescents.
