Direct and manage the support operations of the district including: leading department teams organizing/managing special events maintenance transportation safety security grounds maintenance facilities maintenance construction management risk management capital planning and staffing needs as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors Degree in management operations education or related field
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of state and federal laws state and local policies and administrative guidelines
- Knowledge of contract negotiations and oversight
- Advanced knowledge of facility services and maintenance
- Strong communication public relations and interpersonal skills
- Skill in implementing communication and collaboration between and among various areas of an organization to enhance service delivery program development and customer satisfaction
- Skill in using personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and perform data analysis
- Skill in interpreting policy procedures and data
- Skill in leading efforts to design implement measure and improve programs and services
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage available resources
- Skill in conducting group presentations
- Skill in mediation and facilitation of group and/or individual problem resolution
- Ability to conduct onsite inspections of all District facilities using tools; ladder; mechanical and electrical testing equipment; small truck or van
- Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and
- Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Experience:
Five years of experience in operations management or related field preferred
Past experience in managing maintenance and/or construction projects is a plus.
Preferred experience in educational support operations or related experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Ensure that support operations are supportive of the instructional goals and objectives of the district and the attainment of the campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators).
- Develop longandshortrange objectives and goals for the support operations of the school district.
- Keep the superintendent informed on the support operations of the district.
- Plan and conduct needs assessments for growth and improvement of the district facilities and operations.
- Work with the district personnel in projecting staffing needs building and facilities needs energy needs capital equipment needs and other cost items for district and individual school improvement.
- Prepare review and revise job descriptions in the applicable departments.
- Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure the best operation in the area of facility operations.
- Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
- Make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement transfer retention and dismissal.
- Direct and manage support operations of the district including purchasing special events transportation maintenance and custodial programs construction management risk management physical and environmental safety and operational support.
- Ensure that programs are costeffective and funds are managed prudently to stay within budgeted guidelines.
- Provide leadership to achieve costeffective practices throughout the district.
- Compile departmental budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.
- Ensure that preventive and proactive processes and systems are in place for support operations to ensure long term success.
- Implement the policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and the local board policy in the area of school operations.
- Demonstrate support for the districts student management policies and expected student behavior related to operational aspects of the district (transportation classroom facilities etc..
- Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical responsible and serve as a role model for all district staff.
- Articulate the districts mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of Maintenance Staff Custodial Staff Transportation Staff as well as other committees teams and staff as assigned.
