Description
The Adjunct Faculty Computer Science position is contracted on a per semester basis. This position is a parttime instructional position with duties and responsibilities which are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustee policies. Teaching assignments may include Introduction to Computer Applications courses. Hours will vary according to class schedules. This position reports to the Dean Marine Science and Technology. All instructors are responsible for utilizing the Colleges learning management system as all College courses are at a minimum technology enhanced.
Examples of Duties
- Plans organizes and instructs assigned courses to promote studentsuccess.
- Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students and communication withadministration.
- Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providingfeedback.
- Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care and safetyin theiruse.
- Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of theCollege.
- Assists in implementing College policies objectives and functions in accordance with the CollegeMission Statement.
- Responsible for keeping current in the discipline or program areastaught.
- Assist in College recruitment and retention efforts as appropriate.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to deliver highquality instruction in a range of computer application courses.
- Strong student orientation and ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Understanding of and commitment to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of College mission policies procedures and services.
- Proficient in the use of technology.
Education and Qualifications:
- Masters degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the fields of Computer Science or Educational/Instructional Technology. Preference will be given to credentials in multiple academic disciplines.
- Three 3 years of teaching experience at the community college level or higher ispreferred.
- Three 3 years work experience in the field ispreferred.
(A comparable amount of training education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.
Licenses Certifications or Registrations:
- None required.
Physical Skills:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures and demonstrations.
Environmental Conditions:
- Works inside in an office classroom and computer lab environment.

This is a parttime teaching assignment. Adjunct Instructors earn $543 $727 per credit hour based on degree level.
