Job Description
Position Summary
The MSU Department of Radiology is seeking a Botanical Technologist I to aid in the maintenance of the Radiology Healing Gardens including plant pond greenhouse and interiorscape maintenance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Yearround maintenance of gardens including weeding mulching watering and removing leaves debris snow pests and dry/dead grasses; watering and tending to plants in greenhouse and interiorscape; utilizing equipment such as lawnmowers leaf blowers trimmers and edgers for garden maintenance
- Pond maintenance including pump/heater maintenance scrubbing pond walls and waterfalls cleaning pond filters feeding fish and maintaining pond plants
- Training and supervising student employees
- Assisting with coordinating outside vendors and interact with community members and garden visitors
- Assisting with ordering and picking up supplies and materials required for the gardens operation
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a fouryear college degree program in Botany or Horticulture; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in botanical gardening pest control and plant identification; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and an Ornamental and Turf Pesticide Applicators Certificate.
