Job Description
The Senior Accountant will support the Global revenue accounting function within the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) and BioProduction Group (BPG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a member of the Revenue team key responsibilities include:
- Partners with and supports the business and Finance partners by providing technical revenue accounting guidance
- Supports trains and liaises with GBS revenue accounting team to provide technical accounting guidance and ensures adherence to revenue accounting policies
- Reviews and analyzes complex sales orders and service agreements to evaluate and identify potential revenue recognition issues (i.e. complex language omissions of data vital additions language changes
- Reviews licensing and achievement contracts for accurate accounting treatment
- Supports AR and bad debt divisionalization reporting requirements
- Ensures compliance with US GAAP the companys revenue recognition policies and SOX controls (reconciliations rollforwards and other reports)
- Leads and coordinates revenue internal and external audits
- Performs monthend close activities including journal entry and account reconciliations
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or Business; Advanced Qualification Preferred (CPA)
- 5 years of dynamic accounting experience; prior experience with revenue accounting is highly desired
- ERP system experience (HFM SAP JD Edwards/E1 Oracle R12 a plus)
- Analytical skills to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Read and interpret terms and conditions written guidelines directions and correspondence
- Strong communication skills to prepare and deliver informative analytical and/or persuasive presentations
- Strong organizational skills to balance priorities complete projects in a timely manner and consistently manage own workload
- Subtlety flexibility and tact (professional demeanor)
- Organized meticulous and refined time management skills
- Ability to work independently with general direction and effective under high stress environment
- Dedication to continuous improvement
- Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles (GAAP)
- Flexibility in scheduling due to business requirements (i.e. monthend close)
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $103100.00$165000.00.
