Summary of Job Duties:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care and the provision of other patient services in a clinical setting. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Under the direction of the of the Director and Associate Director the RN Clinical Expeditor in real time will expedite prioritize synchronize and mediate clinical issues which are barriers to discharge and delays in patient care. The RN will play a pivotal role in decreasing barriers improve patient access and enhance quality of care using clinical expertise throughout the patients stay and discharge process. The RN Clinical Expeditor collaborates and provides support to healthcare providers patients physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to ensure consistent application of procedures patient flow processes and optimal communication to improve patient discharge and patient flow at UAMS. The clinical expediter will work closely with Case Management at the local level to identify and help remove barriers to discharge and patient flow.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Valid RN License.
- Two 2 years Registered Nursing or case management experience.
- Current BLS & ACLS
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong work ethics accountability computer skills and aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Nursing
- Three 3 years Registered Nursing or case management experience.
- One 1 Year Supervisory Experience in Healthcare
- Certified Case Manger
Responsibilities:
- Expedites prioritizes synchronizes and mediates clinical issues barriers to discharge and delays in patient care.
- Triages alerts and situational awareness via investigation per the electronic medical record and additional clinical resources.
- Communicates and partners with the Associate Directors of Nursing during times of movement prioritization within a specific area/location/nursing unit.
- Manages deviations from patient care pathways; resolve bottlenecks optimize and prioritize with support services and a variety of clinical departments.
- Provides insight and information and work with Command Center leadership to address patient flow issues.
- In concert with Case Management strategizes and prioritizes needs for long length of stay or complex discharge patients.
- Collaborates with Command Center operations Acute Care leadership and Quality to identify process improvement strategies patient length of stay (LOS) trend delays support quality initiatives and enhance patient safety.
- Defines patient activity triggers and feedback mechanisms to inform operational team members physician leaders and administrative teams to mitigate overcapacity situations.
- Develops strategies to manage a surge in patient volumes
- Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
- Demonstrates positive working relationships with coworkers management team and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
- Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
