Biomedical Systems Modeling and Instrumentation
The continuing track (CT) is UDs fulltime continuing faculty line similar to the tenure track. CT faculty enjoy contracts that increase in length over time and like tenuretrack faculty receive full and generous benefits including familyfriendly benefits as part of their compensation package. CT faculty hold professorial rank and have a path to promotion up to full professor. All CT faculty earn sabbaticals have opportunities to pursue research participate in shared governance and hold academic leadership positions. In the BME department CT faculty are primarily engaged in teaching undergraduate courses but also teach technical electives or graduatelevel courses and are encouraged to develop their technical electives or graduatelevel courses depending on other course offerings and department needs. More information can be found here: in 2010 UD BME is ABET accredited with world class research programs in disease modeling neuroengineering musculoskeletal biomechanics cell and tissue engineering drug delivery and nanomedicine. Biomedical systems modeling instrumentation imaging and data analysis are built into the BME curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. UD BME has a strong history of collaboration between experimental and computational researchers. Successful applicants will share our vision to be a BME department that is recognized for high impact research and for delivering an exceptional engineering education. We seek creative individuals who are eager to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment capable of developing and teaching outstanding courses.
UD BME has new stateoftheart research laboratories located on the STAR (Science Technology and Advanced Research) campus a hub of health and innovation at UD. Core facilities include: the DCMR Multiscale Assessments Research Core (attached to the UD vivarium and includes multiple small animal imaging systems and biomechanical testing systems) the Center for Biomedical and Brain Imaging 3T human and 9.4T small animal/specimen MRI) the Delaware Biotechnology Institute (containing our worldclass BioImaging Center DNA sequencing & genotyping bioinformatics and proteomics cores) Nanofabrication (cleanroom materials characterization and advanced microscopy) and core labs for humanbased studies. Access to active outpatient clinics is fostered through longstanding partnerships with an outstanding Physical Therapy department. UD BME also enjoys close relationships and opportunities for innovative clinical and translational collaborations with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children Thomas Jefferson University the University of Pennsylvania and others.
