Other conditions: Private funds to begin no sooner than July 2025 pending position clearance and availability of funds; appointment not to exceed one year June 30 2026. Position may be eligible for increase in FTE upon departmental needs and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Department Chair and UHIMRP Program Director by assisting curriculum development implementation and evaluation; as well as faculty and organizational development. Ensures development aligns with educational principles accreditation requirements and the Universitys objectives.
  • Mentors advanced medical students interns and residents.
  • Participates in curriculum development implementation and evaluation; as well as in faculty and organizational development.
  • Helps develop and evaluate a Primary Care Curriculum for Internal Medicine residents and medical students.
  • May serve on committee as agreed upon by Department Chair/UHIMRP Program Director.
  • Other scholarly duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • MD degree or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a standard residency program or appointment as chief resident in the clinical discipline involved in the specific position.
  • Eligible for the American Board of Internal Medicine or equivalent by date of hire.
  • Valid Hawaii Medical License by date of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability in patient care.
  • Familiar with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching research and scholarship.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
  • Excellent communication skills written and spoken.
  • Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) policies and procedures.
  • Basic Life Support and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • At least 2 years experience in medical evaluation and management of Hawaiis populations.
  • Eligible for clinical privileges at The Queens Medical Center.
