The Department of Athletics will support the university mission by developing and maintaining a topquality Division II intercollegiate athletics program that is committed to providing a positive and fulfilling academic and athletic experience for all studentathletes. As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the NCAA Division II CSU Pueblo Athletics plays a supporting role in the higher education mission while enhancing a sense of community strengthening our identity and playing a prominent role in enrollment management for the University. Description of Job

This fulltime yearround administrative professional position provides an assistant coach for the womens basketball program in Athletics. This position will provide support in the overall organization and management of the womens basketball program while reporting to the head womens basketball coach. In accordance with the vision of the head coach the position is responsible for serving as an assistant coach; specifically coaching all positions; assisting in the development of practice and game plans and training sessions; scouting opponents and creating a sound offensive and defensive strategy; recruiting qualified prospective studentathletes; monitoring player academics and providing mentoring to studentathletes; monitoring NCAA compliance; promoting the CSU Pueblo womens basketball program; developing camps clinics and fundraising opportunities for womens basketball; and serving as an influential and effective leader collaborator and team player for the department. The position fulfills other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.


Primary Duties
  • Serve as the assistant Womens Basketball Coach in collaboration with the vision of the head coach.
  • Coach studentathletes including all team practices and scheduled games/competitions; develop game preparation and strategy; condition and train studentathletes (including skill demonstration) in order to develop skill character and teamwork in mens soccer. Ensure that all University conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including studentathlete eligibility recruiting financial aid scheduling and academic progress. Follow University procurement and travel policies. Work in collaboration with fellow coaches and staff under the direction of the head Womens Basketball coach.
  • Recruit highly qualified prospective studentathletes.
  • Monitor player academics encourage academic excellence including studentathlete health wellness and overall welfare.
  • Assist in the organization of camps and clinics; fundraising opportunities; serve on committees that promote the success of the program and Athletics; establish and maintain community relations and engagement that enhances the success of the program.

Ancillary Duties
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Salary Range
$38000 $45000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited 4year institution
  • Willing and able to work nights and weekends as needed to fulfill position duties
  • Physical ability to fulfill duties of the position including skill demonstration
  • At least one year of successful coaching in womens basketball at high school or higher level; this experience can include intern or graduate assistant work
  • Experience with or commitment to working in a diverse work environment
  • Experience in positions or activities that required skills in cooperation organization communication and problem solving
  • Experience in a position or activity that required knowledge of NCAA and/or RMAC rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree from an accredited 4year institution
  • Strong commitment and ability to motivate teach and counsel studentathletes to achieve their highest potential
  • Previous experience at the collegiate level in womens basketball
  • Previous experience recruiting NCAA qualified studentathletes
