The Opportunity: Under general supervision of Dining Services Manager responsible for the preparation of menu items special menus and catering menus. Responsible for developing new items annually and seasonally in conjunction with Chef/Manager. Ensure proper par stock ordering levels so that sufficient quantities of product are on hand while minimizing waste from over purchasing. Develop appropriate production pars peak meal batch cooking and offpeak ala carte cooking levels. Responsible for proper handling and storage of all food products. Must demonstrate judgment integrity and commitment to quality in all items prepared. Responsible for the safe and appropriate use and care of equipment clean up and securing of work area at shifts end. Maintain records as required and direct production area. Provide quality customer service to our guests.

This is a full time 100 FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3728 to $4410 Range 38 (Steps FM) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Two 2 years cooking experience in a large scale food service or culinary operation which includes six 6 months experience directing the work of others. Completion of course in largescale cooking may be substituted for one 1 year of experience; OR one 1 year as a Cook 1 in State service; OR equivalent education/experience.
Possession of or ability to obtain a Food Handlers Permit within 14 days of employment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to five years experience in increasingly responsible food service positions.
Multifaceted food experience.
Experience in a la carte restaurant cooking and various international/ethnic cuisines.
Experience leading and training employees.
General knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment use safety and maintenance.
More than 6 months experience leading and training employees.
General knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment use safety and maintenance.
Have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
