Position Description

TheDepartment of Clinical Science at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified motivated and wellorganized applicants for a pool of parttime teaching appointments.

Department of Clinical Science

The mission of the Clinical Science programs is to provide high quality education and professional preparation in cytotechnology and medical technology for a diverse student population to prepare them for traditional and emerging roles as clinical science professionals. The goals of each of the programs in addition to preparing entrylevel clinical practitioners are to:

Produce clinical scientists who can research develop evaluate and implement clinical skills and procedures utilizing a high degree of independent judgment and applied cognitive knowledge; consult where appropriate with other members of the health care team; and instill within graduates a sense of professionalism dedication and commitment to healthcare and their profession that will stay with them throughout their careers.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching at short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term begins midJanuary and ends in midMay. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned upper division courses in the departments curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications

• A masters degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline or bachelors degree with minimum 5year clinical laboratory experience.
• Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
• Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages socioeconomic cultural and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical experience in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
• A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upperdivision core courses 300 or 400level).

Employment Requirement

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

In accordance with the California State University (CSU) OutofState Employment Policy the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSUrelated work outside of California.

Salary and Benefit Information

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5507 $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 $15211

A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e. Bachelors Masters Doctorates Doctors of Philosophy).
