Other Conditions:Contingent on course offerings and student demand to begin approximately August 2025 availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. The position may be converted from 11 to 9 months or 9 to 11 months based on operational needs.


Introduction:
Under the general supervision of the course coordinator provide instruction to students in the classroom clinical laboratory and clinical setting; identify the learning needs of students; and collaborate with healthcare facilities for learning experiences to fulfill the student learning outcomes of the program.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Providing instruction to students in the classroom clinical laboratory and clinical setting.
  • Providing clinical instruction at longterm care subacute ambulatory and/or acute clinical sites.
  • Collaborating with healthcare facilities for learning experiences to fulfill the student learning outcomes of the program
  • Creating a clinical environment that fosters students academic growth and guides their professional development.
  • Evaluating student competence based on program philosophy and student learning outcomes.
  • Preparing student progress reports
  • Assisting in departmental policies and procedures development.
  • Developing and/or updating curriculum and course content.
  • Preparing course materials for assigned teaching.
  • Attending weekly faculty meetings
  • Performing other teachingrelated duties that include but are not limited to:
    1. Preparing course syllabi and calendar
    2. Maintaining office hours for academic advising or conferring with students about coursework
  • Participating in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaged classroom experience for all students; maintaining required certification and license.
  • Actively participate in meetings review and analyze assessment data compile reports and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday but may include evenings and weekends continuing education classes distance education classes and teaching at offcampus sites.
  • Nonteaching duties include:
    1. Working collegially to provide service to the department and college;
    2. Engaging in public service related to ones professional status and/or experience;
    3. Engaging in professional development and professional or scholarly activities related to ones discipline or teaching

Minimum Qualifications:

For ADN & LPN:

  • Masters in Science in Nursing (MSN)ANDat least one year of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility. Preferably his experience will have been gained within the last five years of date of applicationANDRN eligible for Hawaii State License. License required by effective date of employment.

OR

  • Bachelors in Science in Nursing (BSN)ANDat least three years of hospital experience in one of the areas of teaching responsibility. Preferably his experience will have been gained within the last five years of date of applicationANDRN eligible for Hawaii State License. License required by effective date of employment.

Note:Minimum qualifications must be met by the effective date of appointment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Education or experience in curriculum development evaluation or teaching methods.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching in a college setting
  3. Experience in working with a diverse multiethnic population
  4. Demonstrated ability to instruct using multimedia resources and computerliterate
  5. Open to conducting clinicals in acute care facilities in Oahu.
  6. Evidence of commitment to Kapiolani Community Colleges vision of positioning itself as a model indigenous serving institution whose graduates strengthen the social economic and sustainable advancement of Hawaii and the world.
