ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1965 the ChineseAmerican Planning Council Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American immigrant and lowincome communities. Today CPC is the nations largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City including early childhood education schoolage care youth services workforce development community services and senior services. CPC strives to be the premier social service and leadership development organization. In 2017 CPC launched Advancing Our CommUNITY its organizationwide strategy to expand services to address persistent needs and emerging trends and to improve leadership skills among staff and community members. Asian Family Services (AFS) provides child welfare preventive services to help keep children and their families together and avoid the placement of children in foster care. AFS addresses the multilevel needs of AsianAmerican families especially recent Chinese immigrants by providing support advocacy and referral to services and case management to Asian American families throughout the five boroughs. Our professional staff consists of bi and trilingual and bicultural caseworkers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate meetings and facilitate Family Team Conferences inoffice and offsite.
• Act as the liaison between the agency and ACS when setting up the conferences.
• Document all outcomes from the Family Team Conferences and ensure that they are executed in a timely manner.
• Take on cases on an as needed basis.
• Assess and manage cases evaluating for safety and risks.
• Compile monthly statistics and other reports as needed by the program and funding source.
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Social Work Counseling or related field preferred.
• Two years of relevant child welfare experience preferred.
• Familiarity working with the child welfare system community resources and government benefits preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

• Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) and English a must.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including interpersonal skills working with families and children
• Good computer skills.
• Willingness and ability to work on evenings and weekends as required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

• $27.48 $29.40 $50000 $53500 annual equivalent salary); 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends
