The LeibnizInstitut fr Kristallzchtung (IKZ) is a leading research institution in the field of science & technology as well as service & transfer of crystalline materials. Our goal is to enable solutions for pressing societal challenges (e.g. communication artificial intelligence climate protection health etc. through modern electronic & photonic technologies. The work covers the entire spectrum from basic and applied research to preindustrial development and is carried out in cooperation with national and international partners from universities academies and industry. We are offering anEngineer position (f/m/d)CZgrowth of Ga2O3 single crystalsEfficient power electronics is a key towards climate protection and gallium oxide is a promising material for efficient power electronics. IKZ is a leading player in this field with several groups engaged along the value chain and the reproducible growth of lowdefect gallium oxide single crystals with defined electrical and optical properties is a basic precondition for the development of superior Ga2O3based electronic components.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Growth of highquality gallium oxide crystals with different doping in a state of the art Czochralski reactor.
- Structural and chemical analysis of the grown crystals
- Presentation of key results to group and section leaders
- Improvement of crystal growth technology (reactor setup) and process recipes in close cooperation with group and section leaders.
- Exchange with colleagues working at the institute with the material gallium oxide in particular making crystal material available for funding projects.
The applicant must have:
- A masters degree (or equivalent) in material science or process technology and strong knowledge in materials science chemistry solidstate physics and crystallography.
- Experience in experimental research preferably in crystal growth and characterization of single crystals.
- Technical skills and a handson mentality.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
- Motivation and passion for scientific research.
- Good knowledge of English and German language.
What we offer
The position is limited to two year a permanent position is intended. Payment is according to TVD Bund Collective agreement for the public sector including the usual social benefits 30 vacation days in a 5day week flexible working hours parttime is possible).
