Position Title (Classification Title):OPS Lab Manager for the Archaeology InstituteWorking Title:Lab ManagerJob Summary:The Archaeology Institute at the University of West Florida (UWF) is seeking a qualified archaeology laboratory manager. This OPS 40hour a week position has a flexible start date although ideally within a few weeks of the official date of hire. The lab manager oversees tasks related to archaeological materials including initial processing analysis and curation of collections in conjunction with faculty and staff collection management and students. They will maintain quality control provide staff and student oversight coordinate volunteer opportunities and contribute to laboratory documents and reports of investigation. They will oversee and/or conduct cataloguing and specialized artifact analyses. The lab manager will direct and perform lab activities in several spaces on campus and will maintain clean and safe laboratories at all times.DepartmentArchaeology InstituteFLSA:NonExemptPosition Qualifications:Bachelors degree (or higher) in anthropology archaeology history museum studies or closely related field an understanding of generally accepted archaeological laboratory methods and procedures and at least one year of relevant work experience.Preferred QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: Masters degree in anthropology knowledge of and experience in archaeological laboratory management familiarity with material culture from the Southeast United States (both precontact and historical) strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Special Requirements or Considerations of the Job:
