The Patient Care Tech assists in patient care throughout all nursing areas. Duties include assisting patients with their ADLs transporting patients in various types of equipment and ambulation documentation of care and treatments done and observes patients for safety and condition change and reports to appropriate staff.

Development
Basic UPH Performance Criteria
Education:
Must be actively enrolled in high school with a current CNA or high school graduate or equivalent program.
Experience:
Previous hospital or nursing home experience as a Patient Care Tech and/or completion of training in nursing school that covers Patient Care Tech type duties and/or Must attend UPHSL Patient Care Tech training.
Previous hospital or nursing home experience
License(s)/Certification(s):
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behaviors) certified within the first 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
Certified Nursing Assistant
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Basic computer knowledge
Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred.
Ability to move and lift patients and use appropriate equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
Effective interpersonal relationships and communication skills (verbal nonverbal and written).
Other:
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
