Job Description

We are presently recruiting for an Associate/Senior Associate to join the newly created Asset Management (AM) team within the Credit Investments (CI) department in Toronto on a 1year secondment. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the foundational design and implementation of nextgeneration asset management capabilities for CIs private credit portfolio.

The Associate/Senior Associate will play a key role in enhancing the scalability and rigour of our asset management processes working with investment teams and enabling functions to ensure timely and robust investment monitoring and continuous feedback into our investment processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong credit fundamentals an interest in technologyenabled innovation and a collaborative ownershiporiented mindset.

Team Description

AM endeavors to develop a bestinclass asset management function to support CIs growth for the next decade and beyond. The team will consist of credit experts and quantitative engineers collaboratively delivering techenabled solutions to drive alpha from operational efficiency risk mitigation and proprietary insights.

The team will handle ongoing issuerlevel tasks such as performance monitoring analyses of fundamental data trends covenant tracking cashflow and ledger forecasts valuations portfolio updates and other critical asset management activities.  By combining domain expertise with cuttingedge technology including GenAI and machine learning AM aims to develop systems and processes that are tailored to CI highly scalable and enhance decision making.

The Associate/Senior Associate will work at the intersection of credit analysis portfolio management and technology with exposure to CIs team and investment activity globally.   

Accountabilities:

  • Prepare and review issuerlevel performance summaries including fundamental data trends variance analysis covenant compliance and watchlist reviews.
  • Manage asset onboarding processes and ensure seamless postclose handoffs from deal teams capturing all necessary underwriting information and transaction documentation.
  • Act as a business lead or product manager in the development of systems/workflows deployed by AM such as automated model rollforward alerts and report generation collaborating with quantitative engineers to design business logic and validate output.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of standardized monitoring processes frameworks and reporting dashboards/packages.
  • Support crossfunctional initiatives in partnership with CI Strategy Finance Business Management and Technology & Data to drive consistency data integration and operational efficiency.
  • Develop clear wellstructured communication materials and summaries for key stakeholders including deal teams CI group heads and investment committees.
  • Help foster a continuous improvement culture by identifying ways to enhance the asset management model streamline workflows and share best practices.

Qualifications :

  • 36 years of relevant experience in private credit leveraged finance restructuring or portfolio management at a leading asset manager investment bank or accounting firm.
  • Deep understanding of credit fundamentals financial modeling loan documentation covenant structures and performance drivers in private credit.
  • Exceptional analytical and problemsolving skills with proven ability to synthesize complex information and communicate clearly across stakeholder groups.
  • Experience or interest in programming languages data analysis AI and automation tools (e.g. Python SQL PydanticAI) and digital innovation is considered a strong asset.
  • Highly motivated with growthoriented mindset and proven ability to thrive in a highperformance culture.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance Accounting Business or a related field required; progress toward a CFA or CPA designation is considered an asset.
