Category Lead Chemical Raw Materials
Huntsman is seeking a Category Lead Chemical Raw Materials located in The Woodlands Texas. This position will report to the PUR Sourcing Sr Manager.
Job Scope
Manage the strategic sourcing of raw materials and chemicals for the assigned portfolio to ensure security of supply and value creation in line with the objectives of business stakeholders.
In summary as the Category Lead you will:
- Develop and implement Strategic Sourcing Methodology (SSM) strategies for key materials and categories.
- Monitor market conditions and understand drivers that impact cost and supply.
- Negotiate pricing and set the order allocation for your categories.
- Negotiate term and spot raw material and chemical supply contracts to ensure optimal value creation and security of supply.
- Work closely with the Procurement Operations team to ensure proper of sourcing strategies and provide support with delivery and supplier issues.
- Meet with suppliers and build strong relationships.
- Communicate raw material demand forecasts and supply issues to suppliers.
- Answer inquiries from internal stakeholders in operations supply chain commercial technical marketing and finance.
- Research and source new raw materials for innovation projects and new business opportunities.
- Deliver value though cost savings and cost avoidances.
- Lead saving initiatives and support business projects.
- Drive improvements through process optimization.
- Monitor and measure supplier performance and adherence to contract terms.
- Prepare and present professional reports that communicate purchasing activity and market updates to all levels of management including Operations Commercial and Procurement.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering Chemistry Business Supply Chain with 4 years related experience in strategic sourcing in the chemical industry.
- Selfstarter with high attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills and proficient in other Microsoft Office applications
- Proficient with business intelligence tools (Power BI SAP BusinessObjects etc)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent influencing and negotiations skills
- Good understanding of ERP systems and procurement applications (SAP Ariba etc)
- Proficient with sourcing/procurement tools and methodologies RFI RFQ RFP
- Wellversed in contract negotiations using different templates
- Comfortable in fastpaced environments
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt well to change
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Supply Chain and Purchasing certification such as SCMP CPSM CPSD CPSQ etc is a plus.
- Knowledge of polyurethane industry a plus.
