An employee in this classification under the general direction of the Beachfront Supervisor and direct supervision of the Lifeguard Captain is responsible for life saving and emergency services for the beach at Spencer Park. Employees will work nontraditional shifts including day and evening along with weekends and holidays. Employees in this position are integral to maintaining the safety of the City of Rochester Hills Spencer lake and beach while providing a positive experience for Rochester Hills residents and other patrons of Spencer Park. 1. Identifies and works to prevent potential accidents.

2. Enforces park and beachfront rules.
3. Responds quickly and decisively and in accordance with established emergency and accident procedures.
4. Administers first aid and CPR as required.
5. Interacts and communicates effectively with other lifeguards as required.
6. Assists patrons in a positive and professional manner.
7. Communicates effectively with park staff and patrons.
8. Attends training sessions as required.
9. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
10. May assist in concession stands.
11. Other duties as assigned.

2. Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain Red Cross Lifeguard certification within the first three 3 weeks of employment.

Water Skills Test:
Lifeguard Written Test: To evaluate lifeguarding knowledge.
Note: Candidates for this position must pass physical exam including drug screen.
