Job Summary/Description:
14 News the awardwinning dominant numberone station in Evansville Indiana is seeking a strong candidate to coanchor our weekday morning newscast. We are looking for an aggressive anchor who is passionate about covering local news and weather. The ideal candidate should be an energetic morning person who can give viewers something to look forward to in the mornings. We need someone who can soloanchor when necessary for several hours. We seek an anchor who will be involved in the daytoday operations of the newsroom provide content through our streaming platforms and come up with energetic ideas for editorial meetings.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Anchoring at least 2.5 hours of news a day as well as morning OTT hits as assigned
Serving in a leadership role assisting in overnight editorial decisions
Collaborating and assisting show producers with the acquisition treatment and writing of news content
Researching gathering writing and editing news stories for onair and online
Writing in a clear concise conversational manner
Possessing excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skills
Reporting live on the scene during breaking news or weather
Report on special projects as assigned
Developing and maintaining sources of information
Demonstrating sound news judgment
Mentoring other Team members
Utilizing nonlinear editing equipment
Participating in story selection meetings
Attending/hosting/speaking at schools and community events
Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social media
Occasionally stories for newscasts
Following clothing and appearance guidelines set by news management
Learning a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area including people places things and history
Producing and anchoring at least 1530 minutes a day on OTT from the 14 News Digital News Desk studio
Performing other jobrelated duties as assigned
Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure
Maintaining professional and ethical conduct in the station and in the community
Maintaining a positive work atmosphere
Staying current with national and local news/weather
Qualifications/Requirements:
23 years of experience as a television anchor
Bachelors degree in journalism or related field is preferred
Experience with ENPS and Edius editing is a plus
Ability to and edit videos write scripts and effectively communicate live onair
Present information in a fair unbiased manner
