Position Summary:
The School of Business Deans Office is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic entry level Financial Operations Specialist. This position will join the Finance and Administration (F&A) team and play a critical role in the administration of donor restricted funds scholarships and supporting Deans Office units with financial processes. The F&A team prioritizes training and career growth and welcomes applicants who are interested in starting or advancing a career in financial services.
Typical Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance & Research Administration you will:
Ensure exceptional financial management of local funds and support the achievement of donor intent through collaboration with the VCU School of Business Foundation and the schools development team. Optimally will serve as a hub of knowledge for restricted funds.
Function as the financial specialist for all scholarships collaborating with the Schools Director of Admissions recruiting personnel Development and university Office of Financial aid. This responsibility includes becoming proficient in VCUs scholarship Rams Hub system.
Provide fiscal services for several Deans office units including purchasing travel/reimbursements executing monthly reconciliations and supporting leadership with budget planning when needed.
Function as an enthusiastic positive member of the F&A team with a strong focus on customer service and meeting the needs of stakeholders. Develop effective working relationships with units internal and external to the School of Business.
Engage in the ARMICS (internal controls) process as part of the F&A team.
Provide fiscal support to other departments when necessary
Minimum Qualifications:
Foundational experience in accounting and/or financial services paired with a strong enthusiasm for developing expertise in finance in the public sector and a dedication to delivering excellent customer service to various stakeholders
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and interpret financial data and draw sound conclusions
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a variety of projects and to work independently
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization
Ability to work successfully as part of a team and a desire to grow and learn within the role
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a business discipline or an equivalent combination of training skills and experience
Additional Information:
Priority will be given to candidates who submit their applications by Monday April 28th. ** Start date flexible with the intention to fill this position by June 30 2025.
This position is eligible for a limited hybrid and flexible work schedule once training is complete and must be coordinated and approved by the supervisor of this role. Hybrid and flexible arrangements may not be possible during campus events or high student service periods.

Typical Schedule: Monday Friday 40 hours per week. This position is inperson at the VCU School of Business Snead Hall in Richmond VA.
