The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Health Educator! In this role you will beinvolved in creating implementing and evaluating public health education programs and materials collaborating with diverse community groups to promote public health initiatives and advising departmental staff on educational techniques and community resources. Responsibilities also include organizing healthfocused events crafting publicity materials conducting training programs reviewing educational resources for relevance maintaining reports staying updated on health education topics and potentially supervising interns and staff.

Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public health or related field and two years of community health education experience.
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and one year of supervisory experience is desirable. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) can be substituted for one year of community health education experience.
Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California drivers license as well as a satisfactory driving record.
In addition to the qualifications mentioned above the ideal candidate will be a community focused individual knowledgeable of the 8 areas of responsibility and competencies for Health Education Specialists. The candidate should also be well versed in experiential and adult learning theories as well as behavior change theories and models. CHES certification is highly desirable.APPLICATION PROCESS
The exam process will include but may not be limited to:
Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents
Oral Board Exam
Tests may consist of any combination of written oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include but are not necessarily limited to typing math reading writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency or any other jobrelated knowledge skill ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may without notice change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
