Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY/CLASS DESCRIPTION

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
    The County offers a variety of baseball and softball tournaments for all ages. The onsite supervisor is responsible for preparing the game site ensuring proper field conditions starting the games on time returning game site to the condition it was found in at the termination of the last scheduled game and monitoring other sports tournament staff.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    DUTIES:

    1. Prepare site every game day for game play in a safe environment including field lining dirt raking and proper field maintenance.
    2. Set up and break down temporary fencing for youth tournaments as needed.
    3. Conduct proper pregame meeting with selected officials/tournament partners/site staff.
    4. Start and end games at scheduled times.
    5. Responsible for timekeeping and scorekeeping of games.
    6. Direct games in compliance with established tournament rules.
    7. Maintain friendly positive relationship with players coaches site staff tournament partners park/facility staff concession vendors parents and spectators.
    8. Responsible for the safety and general welfare of the tournament and participants.
    9. Complete and submit accident and incident reports to tournaments and events coordinator in a timely manner.
    10. Return game site to same condition as it was found at completion of last game including proper field maintenance and equipment storage.
    11. Perform additional responsibilities/other duties as assigned by tournaments and events coordinator.
    12. Adhere to the utility cart guidelines.
    13. Supervising other tournament staff and keeping them on task.
    14. Attend all required staff trainings.
    15. Keep in contact with tournaments and events coordinator throughout event.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
    1. Knowledge of current baseball and softball rules and the ability to interpret them.
    2. At least 16 years of age.
    3. Ability to understand and interpret specific tournament rules and County procedures.
    4. Ability to schedule and reschedule games due to inclement weather team noshow official noshow etc.
    5. Ability to communicate with parents spectators players staff officials park and facility staff and tournament partners.
    6. Ability to deal with sometimesdifficult individuals.
    7. Ability to supervise and when necessary gain control over the game.
    8. Knowledge of proper field maintenance techniques including field lining and dirt preparation.
    9. Community CPR and First Aid certification desirable.
    10. Baseball/Softball coaching and/or umpire certifications desirable.

    MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Significant background in participation teaching coaching scorekeeping or umpiring in baseball and/or softball.
    • Prior experience working as sport or recreational activity assistant preferred.
    • Baseball/Softball coaching certification CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

    RATE OF PAY:
    Contingent Salary commensurate with experience.
    Site Supervisor: Minimum Wage $25.00/hour (Professional)
