Job Description

College Intern Career Pathways Spring Burlington High School 2024/2025

Position: College Intern Career Pathways Spring program

Job Goal: Work with students as acollege intern and mentor for the High Schools Tech Career Prep Program. The program is part of the career pathways program which offers Burlington High School students an opportunity for career exploration and workrelated learning experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oneonone tutoring and guidance to up to 25 students who are working on technology projects and certifications. Projects are focused on software development cyber security and data science and may involve html css javascript angular python AI unity cloud computing platforms Excel and Tableau.
  • Assist program supervisor with logistical tasks such as taking attendance administering programmatic surveys to students and completing daily and end of program surveys in a timely fashion.
  • The program has two sessions one in spring and one in summer both approximately 100 hours. Applicants can specify if they are interested in working at one or both programs.

Requirements:

  • Declared or Intended BA or BS in computer science or a related field by the start of the program.
  • Experience with at least one programming language and have project experience.
  • Previous teaching tutoring or mentoring experience especially in computer science is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of students.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other team members and share classroom responsibilities.
  • Strong time management organizational and communication skills.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $26 per hour

Start Date:

April 7 May 23 hours between 9 am 2 pm up to 25 hours per week
