Job Description

Work experience

A Lead Bookkeeper has demonstrated consistency in the quality of their work to a point where they can take responsibility of review and sign off of files. A Lead Bookkeeper is responsible for the accurate sign off of client files managing communication with clients including participating in client onboarding and supporting associate bookkeepers with file reviews training and issue resolution.


Required skills

  • Working knowledge of Karbon outlook and other internal systems
  • Working knowledge of QBO and other bookkeeping software (as needed)
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of work quality and timelines
  • Confidence in quality of overall work to be completed without supervision
  • Strong communication skills for client and team interaction
  • Sound problem solving ability and solutions focused mindset
  • Ability to work well within a team environment to support colleagues


Job description

  • Ability to navigate through fullservice bookkeeping services for external businesses on files of medium to high complexity
  • Manage organize and prioritize deliverables for multiple clients
  • Support a team of Associate Bookkeepers as a first point of contact for questions/issues
  • Organize and chair team huddles and meetings when required
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members
  • Review prepared bookkeeping files for accuracy and file HSTs
  • Collaborate with WFM in client onboarding meetings and properly setup new client files for preparation
  • Manage ongoing correspondence with clients for file completion
  • Responsible for reviewing client T4s ROEs WSIB year end adjusting entries when applicable
  • Prepare and provide reporting to clients as needed
  • Attend a weekly strategy/accountability call with the workflow manager
