Job Purpose

As the Director of CAD & 3D you must have deep knowledge and passion for leading a team of CAD ClassA and 3D modelers that create industrialdesign grade 3D CAD data at a very high standard. You will work closely with exterior and interior vehicle design teams to ensure CAD data matches design intentions and product specifications. Your primary purpose is to lead a team of modelers and designers that support the Vehicle Design Team on all projects ranging from concept creation and ideation all the way through to delivering productionready design solutions. You will also work with studio engineering to incorporate any and all criteria.

While directing a team of modelers this position also includes creating concept CAD models as well as ClassA level (individual contributor) for future concept derivatives and productionintent products. Excellent communication skills are needed to interact with a fastpaced and multitalented team. The ideal candidate is highly productive and has a teamcentered spirit and a positive attitude.

This position is fulltime inoffice. Candidates must reside within Dallas TX or have a reasonable driving commute to Justin TX and/or be willing to relocate.

Responsibilities 80s of the Position)

• Lead and build a team of CAD ClassA and 3D modelers/designers
• Create digital automotive surfaces ranging from concept to ClassA level
• Collaborate with exterior and interior design staff
• Collaborate with cross functional teams: engineering manufacturing purchasing craftsmanship marketing to execute design concept into production
• Work with engineering and packaging engineers to incorporate all feasibility criteria
• Research and present initiatives to keep design processes of the studio relevant within the industry

Required Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design transportation design or equivalent practical experience
• 15 years of CAD experience preferably within the automotive OEM space
• 15 years automotive experience
• Understanding of production automotive development and procedures
• Has practical knowledge to create in different medians (wood cardboard aluminum) for mockups and buck builds
• Ability to work in a highpressure environment with quick turnaround
• Intuitive feeling and passion for automotive design

PreferredExperience

• An understanding in Keyshot VRED or equivalent rendering software
• An understanding of Unreal Engine (AR VR XR) or similar is a bonus

Travel Requirements

• Limited Travel might be required for company events
