Job Description

Elementary International Languages Program Supply Site Supervisor

St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38000 provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Program:

Site Supervisors support the language learning of instructional staff and each student in a physical environment. They have responsibility related to the program the students the parents the community and the classroom. The Site Supervisors must understand the concepts of equity and inclusiveness in the Canadian context.

You will report to the Program Manager of the International and Indigenous Languages Program.


General Description of Duties:

  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times during the IL classes in accordance with the safety protocols.
  • Planning executing and reporting fire drills and lock down procedures at the site
  • Following the supervision protocol which ensures supervision of children in the gathering area before and after classes.
  • Communicating with parents regarding safety and security rules
  • Monitoring the overall status and quality of the site during IL classes.
  • Reporting accidents/incidents in accordance with Board policies and respond to medical emergencies providing First Aid when needed.
  • Coordinating the flow of information between the Program Manager instructors parents and students providing forms and reports as required
  • Coordinating ongoing registration of IL students.
  • Ensuring that required records and registration forms are protected maintained and are available upon request.
  • Assist in planning program and school events and managing a calendar of those events.
  • Orientate new teachers to the safety protocols of the site
  • Coaching mentoring and support for teaching staff
  • Facilitating the language instructors use of audiovisual equipment photocopier other resources within the school
  • Assisting teachers with students discipline.
  • Scheduling and facilitating staff meetings with IL staff at the site.
  • Communicating regularly with teachers regarding any administrative and operational issues at the site.
  • Liaise with custodians to establish routines and ensure safety and security of the site for students and staff during program hours (e.g. fire drills lock down).
  • Process volunteer applications keep accurate records and manage volunteers at the site.
  • Perform administrative duties in a timely and professional manner
  • Promoting International Languages Program in the community


Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the International Languages Program
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Current First Aid Certificate


Desirable Assets:

  • A postsecondary diploma or degree
  • Previous Supervisory or Leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Security procedures
  • Be familiar with D2L Google Classroom and TEAMS Google Meet to provide support for the staff
  • Elementary teaching experience
  • Fluency in a second language

Program Hours : Saturday Mornings Mondays and/or Wednesday evenings

On as asneeded basis


Rate of Pay : $32.19 per hour(plus statutory & vacation pay)
