GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


WDH is seeking a parttime injury epidemiologist to provide epidemiologic support to the Wyoming Injury and Violence Prevention Program (WIVPP). The programs mission is to coordinate state and local efforts to prevent unintentional and intentional injury and violence through public awareness training and system change. This position involves analyzing injuryrelated data from various sources preparing reports and presentations and collaborating with internal and external partners to inform public health interventions. This position will also assist with program evaluation and performance monitoring efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.


  • Provide epidemiologic support for the Wyoming Injury and Violence Prevention Program (WIVPP) through data collection reporting evaluation and translation of injury surveillance data.
  • Identify sources of injury data conduct analyses identify gaps and provide interpretations to assist in the development of interventions and recommendations obtaining funding and ongoing education promotion prevention and quality improvement projects.
  • Collect and analyze data from various surveillance systems that monitor and assess injury in Wyoming such as hospital discharge records emergency department visits vital statistics and survey data.
  • Maintain and update injury surveillance systems to monitor trends and identify emerging issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program evaluation in collaboration with program partners and of program metrics to measure progress toward injury prevention goals.
  • Produce and distribute fact sheets data briefs reports and dashboards to distribute to partners and the public to communicate injury data.
  • Collaborate with internal program partners and other external partners to support injury prevention initiatives.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


A Masters degree in Public Health Epidemiology or a related field is preferred. Candidates with a bachelors degree in Public Health Epidemiology Science Social Services or Statistics will also be considered.


KNOWLEDGE:




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Epidemiology)
Experience:
12 years of progressive work experience (typically in Epidemiology) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Epidemiologist I
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
46 years of progressive work experience (typically in Epidemiology) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Epidemiologist I
