This Midlevel role Instrumentation & Control Systems Design Engineer is responsible for design and analysis of process instrumentation and support of control systems interfaces for nuclear power plant applications. This includes plant process instrumentation and digital controls systems requirements and specification development.

Responsible for Plant I&C Systems design activities that support:
- GEs BWRX300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR)
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates accountability for cost schedule quality and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
- Provide technical guidance and support project scheduling and resource planning develop talent through mentorship and act as the pointofcontact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers.
- Lead and support Instrumentation Application Engineering (IAE) technical work scopes including IAE design scope interfaces with architectural engineering firms.
- Support I&C System design and development from conceptual through preliminary and detailed design fabrication assembly production test validation test as well as site installation startup test and commissioning.
- Perform and support design and related technical scope from Conceptual Preliminary and Detailed Design including successful completion of nuclear regulatory design certification or plant licensing as well as procurement packages and handoff to suppliers for implementation all applicable system and component requirements; interfaces function performance design assurance process qualification standards regulatory guidance certification or licensing commitments technical contract human factors safety hazards reliability cyber security etc.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve functional performance reliability availability and maintainability (RAM) targets and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Collaborate with system supplier implementation teams to develop perform and review unit module system and integration test plans procedures and reports including factory acceptance test site acceptance test construction preoperational and startup tests.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering Mechanical Engineering Nuclear Engineering Physics or Mathematics from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial Instrumentation and control such as nuclear power process marine oil & gas military aerospace medical or pharmaceutical.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with application requisition or field engineering in a combination of midtier programmable logic controllers (PLC) or toptier DCS used in combination instrumentation data acquisition control monitoring or automation.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in safety critical applications or regulated industry.
- Professional Engineer licensed in Canada
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation control and monitoring with detailed knowledge in safetyrelated systems hardware software theory of operation equipment environmental seismic qualification (EQ) testing and field services or plant startups.
- Experience using Instrumentation Application Engineering design tools on large plant projects to produce detailed design deliverables (e.g. Hexagon Smart Instrumentation (SPI) or similar tool to produce instrument lists instrument data sheets etc..
- Experience in DCS or PLC application deployment and support engineering of complex high reliability signal acquisition data processing internetworking separation safety hazards reliability simulation cyber security requirements.
- Experience using industry standards for plant process instrumentation or controls (e.g. ISA IEC RegDocs Reg Guides).
- Clear thinker detail oriented insightful quantitative results oriented Able to learn quickly and make reasoned sound and timely decisions.
- Effective communication cross discipline and functional facilitation and influencing skills both verbal and written with focus on requirements design basis document and technical presentation preparation and delivery.
- Inclusive team player able to work successfully in matrix environment Executing multiple assignments and priorities.
- Able and willing to take ownership and responsibility for work scoping deliverables planning prioritizing scheduling budgeting action tracking monitoring corrective actions reporting etc.
