Job Description Summary:

The department is experiencing rapid growth and has established a sub specialization practice model performing over 5.5 million tests and accessioning over 56000 surgical pathology cases annually with a large case variety. There is an active ENT surgery department with around 2000 ENT cases per year. The Department and The University of Kansas Health System are an NCIdesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center which provides rich opportunities for clinical and translational research both within the Department and within the Medical Center.

The Clinical Scholar Track is for fulltime faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service education and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: ClinicianEducator concentrating on teaching and ClinicianInvestigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Tenure track appointments are fulltime with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching research/scholarship and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions performing beyond expected duties and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.

  • Diagnostic sign out of subspecialty areas

  • General surgical pathology frozen section services

  • Contribute to medical student resident and fellow training

  • Develop research projects

  • Other duties as assigned by Chair

Required Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • MD DO or MD/PhD

  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology

  • Fellowship training in Head & Neck/ENT

  • Eligibility for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Kansas

Preferred Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • Board certified/eligible in Head & Neck Pathology

Skills:

  • Strong diagnostic skills
