GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Join our team and mission in Lander WY! The Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) seeks a Speech Therapist to work with our outstanding Therapies Team and provide speech therapy services to our residents.
WLRC has an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and a new Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) as well. WLRC is truly an extraordinary place with a rich history and a bright future. As part of the State of Wyoming Department of Health our team members enjoy a competitive compensation and benefits package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.- Provide communication mealtime oral motor and hearing components of the functional assessments to maintain own caseload.
- Coordinate therapeutic programming to ensure active treatment for individuals served including ongoing staff inservicing.
- Ensure therapy program interventions meet individuals needs through at least monthly monitoring and written monthly and/or quarterly progress notes and inservicing.
- Teach mealtime challenges class and other specialty subjects to staff. Ensure that staff training needs are met specifically related to communication therapeutic mealtime and oral motor.
- Order and maintain necessary mealtime and communication equipment.
- Develop and maintain evaluation and training kits if they are not commercially available.
- Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and special committees.
- Coordinate the development of augmentative/alternative communication for nonverbal individuals including the creation construction and maintenance of materials and/or equipment for AAC systems.
- Assist in providing community consultations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of speech and hearing therapy and rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of regulations laws professional ethics and practices regarding SpeechLanguage Pathology or Audiology Services.
- Knowledge of research methods.
- Skills in decisionmaking selfdirection organization and prioritizing work activities.
- Ability to use a computer and applicable software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate positively with residents staff families guardians and the public.
- Ability to adapt to change compromise and recognize and accept differing professional expertise.
- Ability to participate effectively as a team member within the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Ability to work with and around WLRC residents including those who may display challenging behaviors.
- Ability to write programs and perform oral motor mealtime and audiology assessments and interventions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Masters Degree in Speech PathologyCertificates Licenses Registrations:Licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of Wyoming as a Speech PathologistNecessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- Recognize through sight and sounds emergencies and behavior management situations and physically respond to them.
- Must be able to safely move (twisting bending kneeling pushing pulling positioning and lifting people with multiple and severe disabilities.
- Ability to monitor sounds noises location of clients etc. in order to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
NOTES:- FLSA: Exempt
- The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in EVerify. We will provide the Social Security Administration and if necessary the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employees Form I9 to confirm work authorization. Please note that we do not use this information to prescreen job applicants.
- A background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation Department of Family Services and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.
- Preemployment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safetysensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
