Leidos is seeking Structural Engineer to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team providing support to the Federal Aviation Administrations (FAA) Infrastructure Engineering Center.
This position is located in the Des Plaines IL area.
Must work onsite.
25 to 35 Travel Estimate.
Structural Engineer Primary Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to the Infrastructure Engineering Center for accomplishment of project engineering packages.
Prepare summary trip reports within two working days of trip completion.
Compile and complete project documents.
Provide technical engineering support for all phases of assigned new construction and renovation projects (i.e. evaluate shop drawings design proposals and interpret the technical requirements for adherence to contract documents).
Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items relating to engineering.
Perform engineering studies for feasibility and cost versus benefit.
Provide technical input to the Government Technical Interpreter in actions to plan budget program and coordinate the development of engineering projects.
Develop project drawings in accordance with the FAA Standard/guidelines.
Structural Engineer Required Qualifications:
Civil Engineering Degree (B.S. OR similar. Minimum 4 years with Structural Engineering Design and experience with tower shelter and similar structure projects. OR a Masters degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of multiple of the following Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities:
Metal equipment towers
Commercial/Industrial Structures
Roof Replacements
Emergency and battery backup systems (Small Engine Generators and/or Battery Backup Systems)
Small HVAC systems
Remote site work
Road design
Concrete
Site grading
Equipment shelters
Concrete foundations
Structural
Environmental permitting (NEPA ARAP stormwater etc)
Lightning protection and grounding
Hazmat (Pb Asbestos) abatement
Construction risk management
Software: (Project management software (CWP Primavera Microsoft project etc) and/ or Computer aided design (AutoCAD Microstation)
Utility layout design: water power comm sewer
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder OR working in the USA with a temporary protected status (TPS) visa who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years of the past 5 years consecutively with No breaks OR leaving the country. One must be able to show documentation of proof once asked by security or the FAA.
Structural Engineer Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in AUTOCAD.
Knowledge of National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET).
Knowledge of National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB).
Knowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.
Knowledge of Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) power general building construction techniques Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) fire detection security site work.
Please Note: The program budget salary for this role could fall anywhere between $100000 to $110000 with a slight wiggle room to go up based on relevant experience and assessment.
