As a Yard Worker youll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our yards by providing critical support to our operational teams. In this role you will be responsible for the daily operations of the yard including receiving and distributing materials maintaining inventory and ensuring a safe and organized working environment. You will be a key member of a dynamic team working collaboratively to support the needs of our operational teams. What will you do
- Receive inspect and store materials and equipment
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Distribute materials and equipment to operational teams
- Operate various types of equipment including forklifts and loaders
- Maintain a clean and organized yard
- Adhere to all safety regulations
- Perform other related duties as required
- Completion of Grade 12 or a GED
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in stores operations
- Minimum 2 years experience in yard operations
- Working knowledge of SAP other computer applications and inventory management software
Assets:
- Experience working in a warehouse environment
- Experience using SAP software
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices
- Certification in Forklift Equipment Tool Cat Skid Steer and small power tools
- Completion of WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods training
Skills required for success:
- Strong working knowledge of SAP (issues receiving cycle counts etc. required
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology such as Google Applications and inventory management software
- Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and requisitioning procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge of Inventory Control practices and procedures
- Working knowledge and experience with minor construction equipment maintenance and repair Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of equipment materials and supplies associated with parks and roads operations
- Knowledge of application methods safe handling and storage of chemicals and supplies
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instruction
- Ability to be accountable for all stores inventory
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to operate various types of equipment
- Knowledge of inventory management practices

Conditions of Employment:
- Compliance with the City of Edmontons safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
