Summary
We are seeking a software engineer to implement innovative algorithms and solutions for the financial and insurance industries. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to solve challenging realworld problems work on large data sets and to build practical solutions. This position is a perfect match for a visionary engineer who is passionate about the unlimited potential of machine learning/AI/data mining/statistics for creating a better human society in an economically viable and environmentally conscious way.
As an intern you will be given a few problems of which you may work on one or more that best fit your skills interests and personality. You will be paired with a mentor to guide you through your journey. We want to make this a wonderful experience where you gain practical knowledge while advancing our most cuttingedge solutions. We expect you to be productive proactive and a team information about the research done at the laboratory can be found at: and implement innovative algorithms and solutions for finance insurance and the Internet of Things.
Prepare and execute proofofconcepts of the solutions in collaboration with other researchers engineers and interns.
Qualifications:
MS (or a MS candidate) in Computer Science Software Engineering Information Technology Data Engineering or related field will be considered.
Strong academic or practical experience in software engineering data engineering machine learning or an applied field.
Excellent programming skills and knowledge of machine learning tools and libraries in Python or similar.
Selfmotivated and passionate about solving realworld problems and building innovative systems with big data analytics.
Experience with databases is a plus.
Experience with building processes and deploying codes on cloud platforms is a plus.
Knowledge of time series analysis techniques is a plus.

For California only (as required by Californias Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act SB 1162: The expected hourly rate for this position in our California officeis $28 $30 an hour. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including but not limited to depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi Americas variable pay program subject to the programs conditions and restrictions.
