Reports to: Senior Director Environmental Health Safety and Security
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detailoriented Safety Coop/Intern to join our Environmental Health and Safety team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Safety Management Environmental Science Industrial Hygiene or related fields to gain handson experience in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate will assist in the implementation of safety initiatives conduct inspections and contribute to a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs policies and procedures.
- Participate in workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support the preparation and delivery of safety training sessions for employees.
- Conduct research and analysis on best practices in safety management and environmental compliance.
- Help maintain safety records and documentation ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents and nearmisses preparing reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with various departments to promote safety awareness and encourage a proactive safety culture.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Support the EHSS team with administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program in safety management environmental science industrial hygiene or a related field.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations (OSHA EPA) and EHS principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Previous safetyrelated experience or coursework is a plus but not required.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of industrial processes and hazards.
- Experience with data analysis and presentation tools.
