Embrace a culture of care that empowers individuals to thrive in all aspects of life. We are currently seeking a passionate individual to join our team as the Director of Development.

The DOD for the College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP) will be an integral member of the Division of Advancement reporting to the Sr. DOD for the College of Education and Health Professions. Embedded within the college this position will be responsible for executing fundraising initiatives to support the university and college priorities. The position requires a dynamic and collegial individual with demonstrated major giving success experience with donor engagement and stewardship programs in a fast and complex environment.

In consultation with the Sr. DOD the Director of Development will assist and support the COEHP team in achieving individual and team member metrics priority initiatives personally scheduled visits travel proposal submissions and contributed revenue. The DOD will maintain a balanced portfolio across the U.S. participate in an effective stewardship program assist with the deans development and external relations agenda when appropriate and support the College of Education and Health Professions seniorlevel university administrators faculty staff and volunteer leaders in appropriate activities. Additionally the DOD will support Planned Giving for the College in coordination with the Executive Director of Planned Giving and support the Arkansas Alumni Association in efforts that involve College of Education and Health Professions constituents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Consult with the Sr. DOD the Director of Development will manage their own portfolio assist with team achievements and support the Colleges approved fundraising goals and strategies. Moreover the DOD will be responsible for creating and delivering proposals and gift agreements composing and sending acknowledgements and overseeing accounting and gift compliance requirements consistent with Advancement Division and University policies procedures and practices.
Create strong and collegial relationships with the Dean Department Chairs Faculty and Staff of the College and develop a high level of awareness about the College including but not limited to its academic course offerings research initiatives and achievements public service activities student and alumni demographics.
Meet performance metrics of 175 facetoface visits per year timely completion of Reports of Contact (ROC) with a followup next step (visits by videoconferencing on Zoom or Teams or inperson visits are counted upon submission of a ROC) developing solicitation strategies for their portfolio planning quarterly travel (every threemonths basis) and executing travel plans.
Develop strong and collegial relationships with Advancement Division team members.
Be an innovative problemsolver and entrepreneurial thinker to help achieve College and campus fundraising initiatives and to enhance and improve all fundraising operations of the College and University.
Possess proposal writing and editing skills to create proposals and reports.
Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with colleagues donors alumni and constituents with professionalism compassion and representing the College and University in the best possible way.
Manage a portfolio including but not limited to consulting and coordinating with the Advancement Division research team to identify research and qualify new prospects.
Engage with and involve Advancement and Collegelevel administrators in meaningful donor cultivation and engagement activities when appropriate.
Travel the U.S. broadly and work irregular hours whenever needed to achieve fundraising goals.
Model professionalism and a successful work ethic to create a work environment characterized by positivity productivity collegiality and accountability to serve the best interests of the College and the University.
Perform administrative duties as assigned and adhering to College of Education and Health Professions and University Development policies and procedures.
Assist in budget development management and for the College in coordination with the Advancement Division and the College.
Communicate challenges concerns and issues that may arise to the Sr. DOD and others as appropriate to support the fundraising goals of the College.

Regular reliable and nondisruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university

  • At least four years of development experience in a higher education setting including demonstrated major gift success or equivalent experience in another nonhigher education setting

  • Experience managing volunteers and advisory boards

  • Experience with professional travel across the U.S.

  • Effective written oral communication and organizational skills as evidenced by application materials

  • Successful participation in a major giving campaign (preferably in higher education)

  • Demonstrated success in securing Planned Gifts

  • Experience and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience supporting and collaborating with an alumni association or related professional entity

  • Experience managing data executive correspondence and communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with a university campus and a college of arts and sciences

  • Familiarity with business analysis in fundraising

  • Graduate of the University of Arkansas Fayetteville

  • Proven track record of an existing network of relationships with current and prospective benefactors to the College and University

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles of fundraising and ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: 1 to initiate contacts with potential donors; 2 to develop appropriate cultivation strategies including working with volunteers and senior University administrators; 3 to move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; 4 to make solicitations when appropriate; 5 to maintain stewardship contacts with donors

  • Commitment to one or two multiday trips across the U.S. per month sufficient to meet the metric of at least 175 facetoface visits per year

  • Missionaligned with the Universitys pillars: student success research excellence and employer of choice initiatives

  • Guided by the highest integrity

  • Goaldriven as evidenced by persistence and successful outcomes

  • Skill with special event management

  • Ability to be a public representative of the College and the University
