Job Description
In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or designate and working as part of an interdisciplinary team. Provides consultations assessments group and individual therapy in the complex pain intervention/management program using a variety of modalities and in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Psychologist. Experience in complex pain management or a related field preferred. Experience with shortterm individual and group therapy required. Knowledge of and experience with treatment specific to crisis stabilization an asset. Drivers license valid in BC.
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of the interactions between pain addictions and mental disorders.
- Knowledge of complex pain assessment tools MMPI and BPI.
- Exercise sound judgment decisionmaking and problem solving.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to plan and organize workload and establish priorities.
- Knowledge of community dynamics agencies and resources.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Knowledge of nonviolent crisis intervention.
- Ability to deal effectively with wide range of community and facility contacts.
