Job Description

Position Summary: Fulltime faculty member in Mass Communication with strong broadcast background to start in fall 2022

Responsibilities/Accountability:

  1. Acceptance of Mission:Dillard Universitys mission is to produce graduates who excel become world leaders are broadly educated culturally aware and concerned with improving the human condition. Through a highly personalized and learningcentered approach Dillards students are able to meet the competitive demands of a diverse global and technologically advanced society. Upon acceptance of this position youre agreeing to adhere to the Mission and Values of Dillard and the responsibilities set forth.

  2. Teach nine hours of mass communication courses each semester plus twentyfive percent 25 release time to advise WDUB online radio each semester; prepare assessments; conduct curriculum review and implementation; advise students; engage in research and publication; participate in program development; and participate in service activities at all levels of the University. This is a ninemonth nontenuretrack position.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required

  • We seek a distinguished broadcast media practitioner with a minimum of undergraduate degree and extensive broadcast experience and recognition/award for consideration for the professionalinresidence position. An earned doctorate degree (or ABD) in mass communication from an accredited institution will be considered for a tenuretrack position as assistant or associate professor.
  • Seven 7 years minimum professional experience in broadcast journalism with documented advancement in the field.
  • Portfolio of professional broadcast work required.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence and a demonstrated quality teaching ability.
  • Ability to teach broadcast news and radio courses.

PREFERRED:

  • Demonstrated willingness to interact effectively with alumni faculty staff and students.

Work Conditions

May require long hours sitting in front of a computer walking across campus and/or bending stooping and lifting up to 20lbs.
