Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Psychology Department at Montclair State University is pleased to invite applications for a fulltime 12 month nontenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in Industrial Organizational (I/O) Psychology to begin in September 2025. We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative colleague to teach graduate courses in I/O psychology and to coordinate the I/O Psychology Masters Program. Candidates will ideally be able to lead the applied capstone course that takes place in the fall and spring whereas additional courses may include graduate courses such as organizational development and organizational consulting depending on applicant expertise and interest. The coordination of our nationally ranked MA program includes recruitment and admissions internship management and career preparation and other responsibilities as administrative lead to this highly successful graduate program within the Department of Psychology. The MA program is wellsupported by an engaged (I/O) faculty that take pride in its diverse student population many of whom were firstgeneration college students and in students satisfaction with the program. Position is a twoyear twelvemonthnontenure trackappointment with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have a PhD or a PsyD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and demonstrate excellence in teaching.
COLLEGE/SCHOOL AND DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONS:
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is Montclair States largest college with over 5000 undergraduate masters and doctoral students. CHSS facilitates traditional and interdisciplinary learning and is the professional home of many outstanding scholars and instructors across numerous disciplines all of whom lend to CHSSs mission to furnish academically rigorous and relevant programs of study that contribute to the development of an informed and engaged civil society. CHSSs programs develop in students the abilities to discover create evaluate apply and share knowledge so that they will be able to think critically act ethically and be informed citizenparticipants prepared to assume leadership roles in their communities. CHSS also aims to be responsive to the needs of society including via its championing of useinspired research collaboratively undertaken by faculty and students and graduate programs that train students to apply knowledge in constructive inspiring and practical ways that benefit our local and broader communities.
The Psychology Departmentorganized into the three broad categories of clinical industrial/organizational (I/O) and psychological scienceserves a large and diverse constituency of students and is comprised of a vibrant group of 35 fulltime faculty including research faculty teaching faculty clinical faculty and support staff. The Department is home to over 1500 undergraduates many of whom seek to continue at Montclair in our graduate programs. In addition to our I/O MA program which has been a leader in the area the Psychology Department offers certificate programs two other MAs and PhDs in clinical and I/O psychology the latter of which is one that a few of our I/O M.A. students enter. Faculty in the Department are successful with extramural funding providing significant support for students and robust activities within the department. In a period of considerable growth the Department has hired many dynamic faculty on both teaching and research tracks who enjoy collaboration and are committed to student success having chosen the Department for its record of supporting curricular innovation in response to disciplinary developments and the needs and interests of our students. The faculty members have diverse backgrounds and we experience success in helping new faculty acclimate to the department and university. The I/O faculty include senior midcareer and junior faculty who are equally committed to their MA and PhD students.
SALARY RANGE Commensurate with experience
