The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH)is the lead agency in preventing disease injury and disability; promoting health and wellbeing; and preparing for and responding to disasters from a health perspective. The mission has remained constant to protect the lives of all Georgians. Today DPHs main functions include: Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Maternal and Child Health Infectious Disease and Immunization Environmental Health Epidemiology Emergency Preparedness and Response Emergency Medical Services Pharmacy Nursing Volunteer Health Care the Office of Health Equity Vital Records and the State Public Health Laboratory.
The Office of Quality Performance & Accreditation (OQPA) promotes and supports DPHs performance improvement efforts. OQPA coordinates how DPHs performance data are collected shared and used to identify investments needed to advance public health practice.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this internship is to support the enhancement of an agencywide public health performance management system person in this position will help maintain an online database that tracks DPHs key performance indicators. Additionally the intern will assist in the development and maintenance of a data dashboard that graphically represents DPHs data to make them more accessible and understandable.

The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities generally in the form of two 15minute breaks or one 30minute break.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.
The candidate selected for this position may be subject to preemployment drug screening and a criminal background check.
