You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Department of Biology at the University of Washington (UW) Seattle invites applications for two fulltime ninemonth Assistant Teaching Professor positions with an anticipated start date of September 2025. The initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal. These positions are promotable but not eligible for tenure. While teaching needs are currently high in areas of ecology evolution and organismal biology we welcome applications from candidates in all areas of biology.
The UW Department of Biology is a large collaborative and integrative department that provides a supportive environment for teaching service and scholarship. As a community of researchers scholars and teachers we innovate in biology education and biology education research and we engage with topics of diversity equity and inclusion to build a mutually supportive community. In addition our new Life Sciences Building is equipped with classroom and laboratory spaces designed for active learning and we support new colleagues through coteaching experiences and teachingandlearning communities of practice.
In our department teaching professors are expected to teach large introductory courses and upper division courses including laboratory courses. The department incorporates active collaborative inclusive metacognitive and reflective techniques in our approaches to teaching service and scholarship activities.

Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $7778 $9000 per month on a 9month basis $70000 $81000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Applicants must have earned a doctorate or foreign equivalent in the biological sciences or a related field by the date of appointment. Applicants must have at least one year of teaching experience in the life sciences.
