Job Description
Eureka College in Eureka IL invites applications for a fulltime Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities. This is a 12 month position.
Minimum requirements: Master of Music in Choral Conducting or Vocal/Choral Music Education
Preferred qualifications:
A record of excellence in choral conducting at the university level.
Doctorate in Music from an accredited institution.
All degree requirements must be completed by the beginning of the fall semester. Position will begin on August 12 2025.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting Eureka College Chorale (large mixed voice choir) and Chamber Singers (auditioned chamber choir)
Demonstrated success as choral program builder and recruiter.
Teaching related undergraduate courses; conducting advanced conducting and vocal music education methods
Participate in service to the College and profession
Collaborate with students and faculty of varied backgrounds
The ideal candidate will be an active conductor with broad performance interests. This candidate will help students with an interest in a music career to launch their careers. Application will include a cover letter curriculum vita statement of teaching and conducting philosophy statement of how candidate will engage with or foster diversity three letters of recommendation transcripts
Selected applicants will be asked to submit video examples of rehearsal and performance.
The music program offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music with five concentrations (Vocal Performance Piano Performance Music Education Music Ministry and Music History and Theory the minor in music and a performing arts certificate.
