Job Description
Background of the Organization
Sela was created to help tackle educational inequity racial segregation and cultural isolation to create a place where students would be celebrated as they begin their global citizenship journey. We are a bilingual HebrewEnglish school that proudly serves and educates 280 PreK3 5th grade students here in DC. We are thrilled to continue to expand on the educational opportunities we can offer to our students and hope that this new role can support us as we grow and deepen our work. For more information please visit our website: Elementary English position is studentfocused. This position is as a homeroom coteacher in a 50/50 English/Hebrew immersion model and candidates should be familiar and comfortable with teaching Reading Math Science and Social Studies among other areas.
Teacher Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages of young children and educational theories that support learning and development;
- Analyze and regularly review student assessment data from a variety of sources both formally and informally to drive curricular and pedagogical choices and adjustments;
- Maximize learning time through effective classroom management;
- Provide an inviting exciting learning environment using varied instructional techniques and developmentally appropriate strategies;
- Mastery/deep knowledge in instructional subject area with an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject;
- Evidence of student achievement growth in previous teaching roles;
- Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence;
- Passion for Early Childhood and the ability to connect with and motivate individually and collectively a diverse group of students;
- A strong commitment to all students;
- Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building; and
- Belief in the critical importance of diversity in the life of a school.
Teacher Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree preferred
- Elementary and/or Middle School teaching experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Compensation
The annnual salary for this position depends on the applicants years of experience and educational level and ranges from $58525 to $92688 and may be viewed on the salary scale on Sela PCSs website athttps://selapcs/careers/. Sela PCS offers medical dental and vision benefitsto teachers.
