- Two 2 Year Drafting diploma or educational equivalent
- Two 2 years of progressively responsible drafting experience
Assets:
- Previous experience setting up and managing a drawing and technical records management system
- Previous experience with SAP GBIS and SLIM is an asset
- Previous experience on electrical systems
- Experience in design and drafting electrical drawings such as red line drawing single line drawings electrical schematics wiring diagrams and substation logic drawings
- An electrical design certificate is an asset
Skills required for success:
- High level of knowledge in the use of AutoCAD and other drafting software packages
- Drafting Knowledge of a wide range of disciplines including electrical mechanical communications systems structural and architectural.
- Knowledge of setting up and managing drawing/technical records control systems.
- Able to develop a high level of skills in the use of the citys SAP GBIS and SLIM computer systems.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Good interpretive skills.
- Strong computer skills including Google Sheets Docs and Slides.
- Vast knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved.
- Excellent clientfacing communication skills including active listening.

Conditions of Employment:
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position there may be a cost associated to the applicant with fulfilling this requirement

Work Environment:
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective bargaining agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
- The role involves a combination of office work and field work including exposure to extreme temperatures (hot cold) dry humid and dusty conditions precipitation (rain snow) brightness and darkness confined spaces noise and radiation vibrations and heights.

The City of Edmonton is seeking a dynamic and detailoriented individual to join our Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) team as a Drafting Technician I. As a Drafting Technician I you will be responsible for updating reviewing and managing record drawings and documents related to LRT and Bus Facilities assets. This includes creating and managing GIS data coordinating technical record/data management and providing guidelines and standards on drawings and signage. You will also collaborate with various stakeholders to obtain updated asset and technical information and support substation renewal and upgrade projects. This role requires a keen eye for detail strong technical skills and the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams.
What will you do
- Updating internal record drawings to match actual site conditions
- Preparation completion and checking of plans drawings and maps typically using Autocad
- Operate different software suites such as Adobe Google and any other related software to manipulate data for the purpose of generating reports and public information
- Updating drawings for multiple different groups within LRT Operations &Maintenance such as Track & Right of Way Facilities Light Rail Vehicles Systems Maintenance and Technical Services
- Support facility and substation renewal and upgrade projects with drawing creation and modification of the existing drawings
- Work with various stakeholders to obtain updated asset and technical information
- Updates information on the citys GIS systems and develops reports and maps these systems for ETS
- Review ULAs related to ETS Infrastructures
- Update and work with Utility Safety Partners drawings / submissions related to ETS
- Develops and manage the ETS drawing and technical records control systems and managing the LRT records library
- Respond to requests for drawings and other information from internal City staff as well as external consultants and contractors
- Conduct site inspections when required
- Collects and compiles LRT assets information including cost condition and investment needs and coordinates LRT Infrastructure and investment needs reporting.
- Collect and compile asset in service information and is responsible for Tangible Capital Asset reporting for the Section
