The Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute a Department of Energy University Facility is jointly supported by DOE and the State of Texas and is a major technical and educational resource for the state and the nation. At the Institute we focus on conducting basic research educating students in acceleratorbased science and technology and providing technical capabilities for a wide variety of applications in space science materials science analytical procedures and nuclear medicine. The Master Utilities Maintenance Technician under direction will perform preventive predictive and corrective maintenance on equipment and machinery as needed. The selected candidate will take a leadership role in ensuring that mechanical maintenance is executed safely and efficiently and in such a manner as to restore or improve the reliability of the equipment being maintained.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience
Schedule: The selected candidate must be able to occasionally work evenings nights weekends and holidays
Special Note: Due to this positions salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
Required Education and Experience:
High School or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
Seven years of related experience in the maintenance of equipment such as industrial power boilers steam and/or gas turbine driven generators or industrial or commercial chilling equipment
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Forklift certification within 6 months of employment or when training next available through EH&S. Failure to successfully complete any of the TAMU training & development program for Master Utilities Maintenance Technicians may result in termination
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of mechanical diagnostic tools which may include laser alignment and vibration data processors
Knowledge of root cause analyses methods
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding
Preferred Qualifications:
Welding Certification
ISA Certification Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance: Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on various equipment such as Cooling tower fans tower pumps all heat exchangers and lcw water pumps. Repairs all water leaks in Cyclotrons and related equipment. Maintains cooling tower chemical balance. Maintains Low conductivity water system chemical balance. Performs maintenance on building air compressors and hydraulic systems.
Installation: Installs and repairs copper pipes up to 4 inches long with valve as needed.
Recommendations: Makes recommendations to avoid equipment failures. Provides direction to ATs as needed. Assists in preparation of cost estimates on new project installs.
