Description

This position supports the nutritional wellbeing of students as part of the education process. This position has responsibility to oversee staff and to prepare/distribute food items following District procedures and standards. The position fills in for positions at all levels and at all district locations. Itinerant position may be used to supplement short and longterm absences and vacancies.

  • Hours/Day: 5
  • Continuing Role
  • Daily Start/End times: 8:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.
  • Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
  • BenefitsMedical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.

  • Often positions have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule all in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) as negotiated.

SALARY SCHEDULE: LEVEL 3 on the Nutrition Services Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school.DOWNLOAD SALARY SCHEDULE

Responsibilities

  1. Monitors the preparation of attractive high quality nutritious costeffective meals following standardized procedures recipes production sheets portioning standards and appropriate equipment in accordance with established work schedules.
  2. Oversees and participates in daily food preparation activities; collaborates with kitchen team to accomplish daily production needs.
  3. Provide oversight and training Kitchen Staff student workers and substitutes.
  4. Assists with district wide program training for the purposes of implementing best practices and program quality assurance.
  5. Maintains and troubleshoots kitchen equipment; submit work orders as appropriate.
  6. Follows Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety and sanitation methods and ensure standards are met.
  7. May assist with the opening and closing of the kitchen at the start and end of the academic school year.
  8. Regularly submit orders for food and other supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels for production needs.
  9. Promotes Nutrition Services to increase meal participation.
  10. Perform responsibilities of the Kitchen Manager Elementary Assistant Manager Assistant Manager or Prep worker.
  11. Operate all types of commercial kitchen equipment
  12. Fulfill other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  1. Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handlers within two weeks of employment
  2. First Aid/CPR certificate within one month of hire.
  3. Ability to read interpret and adjust (if needed) applicable menus and recipes for production
  4. Read interpret follow and train others on related regulations procedures policies and guidelines adopted by the Nutrition Services Program District State Federal and USDA meal program requirements.
  5. Ability to use a variety of basic software programs such as Microsoft Outlook Word Excel Office 365 and Teams
  6. Demonstrated accuracy in record keeping
  7. Developing and maintaining positive and professional working relationship with diverse groups of students staff volunteers and community. Actively engages as part of the school community
  8. Establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of employees and customers including students and parents; actively engages as a part of the school site community.
  9. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  10. Personal and reliable transportation is required to work at different district locations daily.

Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma or equivalent

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Preferred one 1 year of work experience in commercial or institutional quantity food preparation that included supervision training and communicating effectively with staff.
  2. Satisfactory completion of approved safety/sanitation class within past 5 years.
  3. Level 3 certification with School Nutrition Association preferred.

  2. Stipends Leave Accruals and Holidays Stipends leaves and paid holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement Collective Bargaining Agreementsas negotiated.
