Job Description
Overview
The Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) seeks an energetic individual to serve as a Workforce Development Specialist. Reporting to the Manager of Apprenticeship and Workforce Development the Workforce Development Specialists primary focus will be on the New York Registered Apprenticeship Manufacturing Program (NYRAMP) to engage businesses educators and community partners to provide resources training solutions and technical assistance for workforce challenges specifically to support Registered Apprenticeship.
The ideal candidate possesses strong personal and organizational skills along with an interest in sales. As well as a passion for developing career pathways and problemsolving skills to provide workforce solutions.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Business Development
- Maintain relationships with businesses educators and community partners to promote the benefits of MACNYs workforce development initiatives and MACNYs Membership offerings.
- Collaborate on efforts including prospecting and presentations to secure new outreach and apprenticeship connections.
- Identify new and emerging opportunities for apprenticeship pathways in growth industries such as clean energy broadband infrastructure information technology and other in demand occupations.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and subject matter experts to advance the work of NYRAMP.
- Work with businesses to identify and solve skill gaps utilizing MACNYs talent development solutions.
Project
- Facilitate inperson and webbased presentations and trainings.
- Provide technical assistance to key stakeholders on the project.
- Assist with delivery on NYRAMPs Project Work Plan to meet monthly quarterly and yearly goals.
- Assist in the facilitation of meetings with partner organizations.
Reporting
- Contribute to the development and timely submission of the NYRAMP grant reporting requirements.
- Report monthly on project deliverables to ensure alignment with project scope of work.
- In conjunction with the Manager of Workforce Development participate in planning and strategy meetings to design project deliverables and yearly project workplans.
Registered Apprenticeship
- Work with Manager of Apprenticeship and Workforce Development on multiple projects promoting statewide Registered Apprenticeship initiatives.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on MACNY services and program offerings to businesses educators and community partners.
- Act as a liaison with the Department of Labor (DOL) with MACNYs Group Sponsored Apprenticeship program.
- Perform work as a team member on multiple programs and grant initiatives. Including but not limited to data collection and providing grant program activity reports as required.
- Assist in the creation and expansion of Registered Apprenticeship Trades for indemand fields across New York State.

Qualifications
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Focus on skillsbased hiring with the opportunity for a Registered Apprenticeship upon successful completion of 90day probationary period.
- Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of community college systems workforce development boards and/or industry training providers is desired.
- Strong grasp of key workforce development concepts presentday challenges and emerging solutions (e.g. career pathways skills gaps preapprenticeship Registered Apprenticeship skillsbased hiring).
- Strong computer skills including word processing spreadsheets and databases.
- Training and/or experience with time management and project management skills.
- Experience with digital platforms virtual events social media and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system a plus.
- Background with Federal awards with external funding management is a plus.
